There is no direct relationship between color and performance, and different pigments do not affect electrical properties. The performance of PCB boards is determined by factors such as the materials used (high Q value), wiring design, and the number of layers. However, in the process of washing PCBs, black is the most prone to color difference. If there is a slight deviation in the raw materials and manufacturing processes used by PCB factories, it will increase the PCB defect rate due to color difference. This directly leads to an increase in production costs.

In fact, the raw materials for PCB are commonly found in our daily lives, which are fiberglass and resin. Fiberglass is combined with resin and hardened to become a board that is insulated, insulated, and not easily bent, which is the PCB substrate. Of course, PCB substrates made solely of glass fiber and resin cannot conduct signals. Therefore, on PCB substrates, manufacturers will cover the surface with a layer of copper, so PCB substrates can also be called copper-clad substrates.

Due to the difficulty in identifying the circuit wiring of black PCBs, it increases the difficulty of maintenance and debugging during the R&D and after-sales stages. Generally, brands without experienced RD (R&D) designers and strong maintenance teams will not easily use black PCBs. It can be said that using black PCB is a sign of a brand's confidence in the RD design and post maintenance team, and indirectly, it is also a manifestation of the manufacturer's confidence in their own strength.

Based on the above reasons, PCB manufacturers will carefully consider when choosing PCB board designs for their products. Therefore, it was formed that most of the products with large market shipments at that time used red PCB, green PCB or blue PCB versions, and only black PCBs could be seen on mid to high end or top-level flagship products. Therefore, don't think that black circuit boards are better than green PCBs anymore.
